The injured people of the October 8 devastating earthquake admitted in Punjab Social Security Hospital (PSSH), Rawalpindi were given cheques amounting to Rs 840,000 as subsistence allowance on the directions of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

Social Security Commissioner Tahir Raza Naqvi distributed the cheques among the injured people at the hospital. In all, 180 victims were provided cheques of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 each.

Speaking on the occasion, Tahir Naqvi said that October 8 earthquake was a national tragedy and the entire nation was agonised and in solidarity with the affected people. He said that the Punjab government would leave no stone unturned in providing better medical facilities to the injured people and rehabilitation of the victims.

Punjab Social Security Department has played its role effectively by sending relief to the affected areas and by providing medical care to the injured, he added.
